Words are counted by splitting text on whitespace. Multiple spaces between words count as a single separator. Leading and trailing whitespace is ignored.

Reading time is calculated at an average speed of 200 words per minute, which is typical for adult readers consuming general content.
Does this count characters with or without spaces?
We show both. Characters includes all letters, numbers, punctuation, and spaces. Characters (no spaces) excludes whitespace only.
